BOSTON, MA – The Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project (PAIR)presented Boston Common Asset Management with their 2013 Business Leader in Human Rights Award for the company’s leadership in promoting human rights in the corporate sector and in working to create a more just and sustainable world.
PAIR is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization representing indigent asylum-seekers and immigrants unjustly detained, originally from over 90 countries throughout the world, many fleeing violence, trafficking, and other human rights violations.
Boston Common, “through its President and Founder Geeta Aiyer, and its Managing Directors Lauren Compere and Steven Heim, has been a leader in promoting human rights in the corporate sector and in working to create a more just and sustainable world in areas of direct relevance to PAIR clients,” said PAIR. “They were a leading voice for immigration reform in 2011, well before its recent traction in Congress. Their positions on investment correspond to many situations our clients have faced.”

Most recently, following the Bangladesh tragedies, Boston Common has been a leading investor voice for systemic change in the global apparel supply chain,” said PAIR.
“Their leadership on human rights issues and close association with the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility is an inspiring model for the entire business community and one which we would like to honor and recognize.” Over the years, Boston Common has worked closely on immigration reform with several fellow ICCR members, notably Mercy Investment Services, Inc., and the Unitarian Universalist Association.
