BOSTON, MA – Boston Common Asset Management’s shareholder advocacy work on global warming is featured in the Winter 2007 edition of OnEarth magazine, a publication of the National Resource Defense Council.  On behalf of its clients, Boston Common pressed Progress Energy to report its greenhouse gas emissions and address the financial risks climate change poses to the electric power industry.  Progress Energy, now the 9th largest electric power company in the U.S., agreed to our shareholder request and published an Assessment of Global Climate Change and air Quality Risks and Actions earlier this year.  The initiative’s success and an overview of how investors can use corporate ownership to improve a company’s environmental footprint are outlined in the article.

OnEarth is an award-winning environmental magazine published by the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC).  The magazine generally covers issues related to the environment, politics and people. Click here for more information on the National Resource Defense Council
