Nathan Foley-Mendelssohn

(1979-2013)

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our long-time colleague and dear friend, Nathan Foley-Mendelssohn. Nathan was on an extended personal trip to Iceland when he went missing while on a hike there. There were extensive search and rescue efforts made, but to no avail.

Nathan was a member of the Boston Common family from 2003, our first year as a firm. His brilliant intellect and willingness to take on any new challenge, his superb writing and wise counsel, his humor and tireless dedication, were all invaluable to us.  We looked to him for insightful analyses of investments, sustainability issues and our own business strategy, and with calm reliability and reassuring clarity, he always came through for us.  He rose quickly within Boston Common, to be a sector analyst and a shareowner in the firm.

More information about Nathan’s life can be found in a remembrance at this link:

Our thoughts are with Nathan’s family at this difficult time.

At BCAM, we also plan to honor Nathan’s memory with a day of community service and by dedicating a tree to him in the Boston Common.

We are grateful for the years we got to share with Nathan as colleagues and friends.  He will be greatly missed by us all.
