Despite the anticipated lifting of sanctions in Burma, Boston Common’s experience with conflict zones leads us to have significant concerns with rapid investment in the country.  Absent a solid rule of law and a robust political system, corporations may face exposure to human rights violations, corruption, and bribery- related risks.  We urge investors and corporations to take a cautious approach as they consider investment opportunities in the country.
