Lauren Compere, Managing Director and Director of Shareholder Engagement at Boston Common Asset Management, LLC, was named treasurer of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) at the group’s 2012 Annual General Meeting.  Ms. Compere’s election as treasurer follows a 2 year tenure as a standing member on the ICCR Governing Board.

Over her seventeen year history as an ICCR member, Ms. Compere has directed numerous social justice corporate engagement initiatives. She served as the co-chair of the Human Trafficking Sub-Committee, and co-chair of the Access to Health Working Group.  She continues to serve on the leadership teams of the Human Trafficking and Global Health Working Groups. In 2007, Ms. Compere co-authored the ICCR white paper “How & Why: Corporations Responding to AIDS.” In 2010, Ms. Compere was honored by ICCR for five years of human trafficking advocacy leadership with the organization.  ICCR’s Human Trafficking Working Group was established following Boston Common’s leadership role in engaging Marriott International in 2005 and 2006.

“For many years, Lauren Compere has demonstrated leadership across a number of issues such as Global Health and Human Trafficking, that go to the core of ICCR’s mission to create a more just and sustainable corporate world,” said Laura Berry, Executive Director of ICCR. “Lauren made history in 2010 when she was elected as the first representative from our associate (secular) members to join our governing board.  With her election as Treasurer, Lauren is once again being recognized by the ICCR community for her finely-honed skills and commitment to our work.” Ms. Compere is now one of only two associate members on the ICCR governing board.

Boston Common co-chaired the host-committee for the 2012 ICCR AGM, which was held in Boston in June.  At the welcome reception, Ms. Compere introduced keynote speaker Professor John Ruggie, creator of the widely celebrated UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Boston Common’s work with ICCR on Human Trafficking, Access to Nutrition, and Hydraulic Fracturing is highlighted in the Spring 2012 and Summer 2012 editions of the ICCR Corporate Examiner.
