Boston Common Asset Management is proud to announce that our President and Founder Geeta Aiyer has been awarded “Woman of the Year” by India New England magazine.

INDIA New England  is the premier source of business and community news for Indian-Americans in New England. For the past twelve years the magazine has honored women leaders who have used their role to empower and inspire women from all walks of life. Geeta was selected from a  list of 20 candidates by the judges who recognized her business acumen and commitment to  the environment and social justice. In addition to her success as an investment manager, Geeta has been a long-time activist for women’s rights. She serves as a board member of the YW Boston, which supports education and training to end racism and empower women in Boston, and Ubuntu at Work, a social enterprise that collaborates with women to support their livelihoods through training and marketing of green products. In 2013, she founded an NGO –  Direct Action for Women Now (DAWN) which focuses on addressing gender based violence in India and the US.

Under Geeta’s leadership Boston Common has also been a proud supporter of the US 30% Coalition – an initiative dedicated to increasing the percentage of women board members of publicly listed companies. Through its investment and engagement approach, Boston Common has sought to change corporate behavior on issues predominately impacting women and children such as human trafficking and modern day slavery, immigration reform, violence in conflict regions of the world, women’s health and access to medicines, and the economic livelihood of women in developing countries from Bhopal survivors in India to the garment workers of Bangladesh.
