BOSTON, MA – December 10th is International Human Rights Day. Boston Common is one of 500 global organizations to endorse the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility’s (ICCR) Statement of Principles and Recommended Practices to Confront Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery. As part of ICCR’s Human Trafficking Leadership Team, Boston Common helped to draft the document.
As part of our long term focus on engaging companies to proactively address modern day slavery and human trafficking in their supply chains—right down to the fields, mines, and factories—we support ICCR’s Statement of Principles and Recommended Practices.
“Boston Common led the first human trafficking engagement with Marriott Hotels in 2005,which led to the formation of ICCR’s Human Trafficking Working Group in 2006,” said Lauren Compere, Managing Director Boston Common Asset Management.
In November, Lauren Compere was a panel speaker at the 4th Annual Mary Robinson Speaker Series in New York City convened by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre “The Rana Plaza Disaster in Bangladesh: Taking Stock Half a Year On” moderated by New York Times reporter Steve Greenhouse.
