ESG Team and Operations Team Add Personnel

BOSTON, MA, [July 29, 2021] – Boston Common Asset Management, LLC (“Boston Common”), an independent, women-led and majority women- and employee-owned global equity manager dedicated to integrated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impact investing, announced the appointment of Joana Arthur, CFA, as Investment Director. In her new role, Ms. Arthur will represent Boston Common’s portfolio decisions to existing and prospective investors. Ms. Arthur has more than 25 years of experience in emerging markets and international equities. Prior to Boston Common, Ms. Arthur was Investment Officer at Mountain Pacific Group, an international equities and global currency manager, and before that served as Equity Product Manager at Ashmore Group.

“We are delighted to welcome Joana to our growing team,” said Allyson McDonald, CEO of Boston Common. “Joana’s extensive knowledge of emerging markets equities, and experience in business development, relationship management, and institutional marketing will be a valuable asset to the team.”

Boston Common’s assets under management (AUM) have increased to $5.6 billion from $2.8 billion since the end of 2019. This growth reflects strong net inflows, significant outperformance in 2020, and the recently announced minority equity capital acquisition by Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. (NYSE: AMG).

Ms. Arthur remarked, “I am thrilled to join Boston Common at such an exciting time in the firm’s trajectory, especially because the team’s recognition of the opportunities that exist in emerging markets and international equities is aligned with my experience and passion.”

In recent months, Boston Common has added two members to its ESG Team (Leah Turino, CFP®, Head of ESG Integration, and Khine Thant, ESG Research Analyst) and two associate-level members to its Operations Team (Kathy Giang and Dennis Huang). The organization will continue to build out its team to support its growing client base and its investment and engagement efforts.
