Joana Arthur, CFA

Joana is responsible for communicating the firm’s investment approach to clients and prospects. Joana joined BCAM in 2021, bringing more than 25 years of experience in emerging markets and developed international equities. 

Joana previously spent four years as an Investment Officer at Mountain Pacific Group, an international equities and global currency manager. She also served in various capacities at Ashmore Group, a specialist emerging-markets asset manager, culminating in her role as Equity Product Manager. Joana began her buy-side career in 2001 as a marketing manager for Emerging Markets Management, LLC (EMM). She helped raise assets and manage clients in the institutional marketplace before Ashmore acquired EMM in 2011. Joana previously gained sell-side experience in emerging-markets equities at JPMorgan Chase through its acquisition of Fleming Martin/Robert Fleming Inc. 

A member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Washington, DC, Joana earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a B.S. in Administration from the University of Ghana. In her free time, she volunteers with religious and educational organizations and enjoys sharing her culinary experiments with her family.
