Investing With a Gender Lens

Companies mistakenly view gender solely in the context of DEI efforts, and investor approaches tend to focus only on board or leadership diversity, while gender is addressed implicitly at best in human rights or social initiatives. Investors thus have an opportunity to drive meaningful change in gender equity and diversity.

In 2023, Boston Common developed and put into practice Investor Guidance for Prioritizing Gender. The guidance identifies five key questions to ask companies and essential steps that all investors should take in urging corporations to commit, evaluate, act, and disclose on gender.

Investor Call to Action

Explicit gender commitment
